Backyard Beekeeping Course Photos - Summer School 2011
Week1
A tentative group gathered for the first demonstration of a hive inspection. |

| A bit closer but still not too sure. |
This hive needed a few blades of grass chopped away. |
But the brood box was bubbling with bees. |

| Frame covered in bees. |
When the bees are shaken off, beautiful sealed brood is revealed. |
Not so good news here in a different hive. A used queen cell, few bees. Probably swarmed. |

More queen cells at the bottom of the frame. A sure indication that the old queen has swarmed taking half the bees. |
Some fresh honey and pollen. Beautiful golden italian bees. |
Multi-coloured pollen stores. |
