ACT Beekeepers Forum Rules & Information

General Rules How to Register Fora Unregistered Registered Members

Please Note: - Due to the large number of Spambots attacking our Forum it has been necessary to require everyone to "Register as a User" to post to our various discussion topics. Registration is easy and it is free. How to register is explained in more detail below.

General Rules

Anyone may access the public areas of our Forum 'Free of Charge'. You may start, or participate in, discussions on any topic. It is preferred if the topic is in someway related to beekeeping.

All posts to our Forum must conform to general community standards. Our Forum is open to the public and viewable by people of any age. The language and content of every post must conform to current laws and regulations in Australia.

Posts that could be offensive to an individual or public person, or to an ethic group, will be rejected.

Any user who posts objectionable, obscene or indecent information, links or pictures will have all future access denied.

Using the Forum to advertise items for sale is discouraged. Advertisements can be place free of charge in the Beekeepers Classifieds. Please follow the link on our web index or click here.

The" Beekeepers Association of the ACT" reserves the right to adjudicate on every post placed on our Forum without question and no correspondence will be entered into.

Types of Fora

There are two types of fora on this website, Open Public Fora and those that have restricted access to members of the ACT Beekeepers Association only.

There are three classes of forum users:

Unregistered Users

If you do not have a username, then you will only be able to read the "Announcements", "Questions & Answers" and "General Discussion" fora.

You cannot post to any of our fora without registering.

Registered Users

If you have registered, you'll be able to read and post to all the public areas of the Forum.

Member Users

ACT Beekeepers Association members have access to read and post to an additional set of private fora.

To get access as a financial ACT Beekeepers member, first register (as discussed below), make sure you're logged into the forum using that login name and then send a Private Message using the forum's messaging system to the Forum Administrator using the forum's email system.

Be sure to include your name in your message so you can be checked against the list of financial members.

You will be sent an email when full member access to the forums has been activated.

How to Register

Simply click on the "Register" button at the top of the Forum page and complete the registration form.

You are required to read and acknowledge the "Registration Agreement Terms" before proceeding to the registration page.

To register you need to enter a username, a valid email address and a password.  You username can be anything you like, it doesn't have to be your family name, as long as it conforms to our decency requirements.

To help prevent Spam attacking the forum you will be required to retype letters and numbers from a "Confirmation Code" that appears on the registration page. If you are visually impaired or require assistance with this please contact our web manager at webmaster@actbeekeepers.asn.au.

You are also required to answer a simple question, well simple for beekeepers at least. The answer to our current question is drone.

There's also some information on how to create your Login Name in the "FAQ" section available by clicking the "FAQ" button at the top left of the forum page.

Notification of New Posts

Once you have a Username, and are logged in, you'll be able to set up the various fora to send you an email whenever a message is posted to a particular forum, or to a particular thread within a forum. This is so that you don't have to keep logging in every day to see if there are new messages.

You do this by clicking on the "Watch this Forum for new Topics" or "Watch this Thread for new Posts" link at the bottom of each Forum and Thread page.

For example, you might like to turn on this facility for the Announcements forum, then you'll be sent an email every time a new announcement is posted.
