Membership
Membership of the Beekeepers Association of the ACT is open to everyone with an interest in beekeeping living in and around Canberra.
Members attend monthly meetings to discuss beekeeping practices, participate in practical sessions and listen to guest speakers.
Recent guest speakers have included Dr Denis Anderson, CSIRO Entomology, (Varroa mite research), Dr Shona Blair, University of Sydney - medical uses of honey (Catalyst: Honey Cure, ABC
TV Science & ABC News in Science) and Peter Ormay, Environment ACT, who spoke about eucalypts and how to identify them. Members also brought along samples of their local trees for Peter to identify.
Experienced members of our Association happily provide advice, training and guidance to newer beekeepers and everyone benefits from our "Beeginner's
Corner".
Members can also borrow from our comprehensive library of publications, journals, videos and DVDs free of charge.
Members can borrow extracting equipment and protective clothing.
Cost of membership is $35 per year for individuals and families. Junior beekeepers can join for only $10.
