| I keep my bees at my parents house in Red Hill.
The things to note about the site are that the hives are protected from the summer sun by
the surrounding trees but get northern sun in the winter. They are situated facing the hedge that forms the boundary of the garden so people can enjoy the garden and not be
interrupted by the flight path of the bees. Or should I say so that the bees are not interrupted by the people in the garden.
I have my hives on stands that are purpose built and elevate the hives about 200 mm off the
ground. This helps with controlling pests like ants and wasps that my seek to enter the hives.
